Migraines and Magnesium

A recent study from Iranian researchers found that there might be a link between blood levels of magnesium and migraine headaches.

Researchers looked at 50 migraine patients and 50 healthy subjects with no history of migraine. The migraine patients had average magnesium levels of 1.86 mg/dl, while the healthy subjects had magnesium levels of 2.10 mg/dl.

The researchers didn’t find any variation in magnesium levels in patients during or between headache attacks.

Other research has confirmed a relationship between magnesium serum levels and migraine, and some headache experts recommend magnesium supplementation for migraine sufferers.

Flexion-Distraction Effective for Low Back Pain

Flexion-Distraction Effective for Low Back Pain

The Flexion-Distraction table is a game changer for those suffering from acute or chronic low back pain. It can help you get on your feet again by providing relief of symptoms through gentle traction, so that we don’t have to rely just as much upon prescription medications with potentially serious side effects!

We offer a evidence based chiropractic solution for joint/disc related back pain. It has been shown to be effective in treating facet syndrome (inflammation or degeneration of inter- vertebral joints), disc herniation, and previous failed surgery that was done on your spine previously!

The table is able to provide a distraction force that can be applied from gentle to strong. This allows us to decompress the spine which can take pressure off of your spinal cord and nerves that are exiting your spine. This in turn can help alleviate pain, numbness, and tingling that you may be experiencing!

How it works:

  • increases the space between joints to decrease pressure in spinal nerves
  • reduces the intra-discal pressure (pressure within the disc), thus decreasing the pressure on the spinal nerves
  • pumps fluid and nutrients back into the disc to encourage healing

It is comfortable, effective and does not require surgery! Call us today to book in with the chiropractor for some flexion-distraction treatment 3369 0110.

Chiropractic Cuts Back Pain for 85% of Pregnant Women

Chiropractic Treatments Helps Reduce Pain For 85% Of Pregnant Women

Many pregnant women do not seek medical attention for their back pain because they believe it’s just a “normal” part of pregnancy. It’s important to know that dealing with gruelling pain that prevents you from accomplishing day-to-day tasks is anything but normal, even when you’re pregnant.

One common barrier to women seeking care for their back pain is a reluctance to take too many medications while pregnant. Fortunately, there are many drug-free, non-invasive options for relieving pelvic and back pain during pregnancy and beyond. A recent study confirms that chiropractic care can offer pregnant women safe and effective relief of pelvic and back pain.

A prospective cohort study included 115 pregnant patients with lower back or pelvic pain who were treated with chiropractic care. After one week, 52% said they had already noticed improvements; that percentage jumped to 70% after 1 month; and eventually to 85% after three months. Patients showed significant reductions in pain and disability, as measured by NRS and Oswestry scores, respectively.

One year after the start of the study, 88% of patients reported improved back and pelvic pain post-delivery. This improvement is significant, given that having back pain during pregnancy typically sets women up for future episodes of back pain. These findings suggest that taking care of your spinal health while pregnant can have lasting benefits for your health.
